A big spare on the back of a JK puts the weight on the tailgate, and reaching the cargo area means moving a heavy tire every time. After a few rough roads, a loose or sagging tailgate becomes a real worry.
The TeraFlex Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier and Adjustable Spare Tire Mount Kit carries up to a 37in tire. It uses the factory tailgate hinge mounting points to spread the load, and internal gussets and bracing in the JK body support the carrier and tire. The mount is formed and welded from CNC laser cut steel and adjusts vertically and fore and aft.
Bolt the carrier to the hinge points, set the mount to your tire, and swing the whole assembly open to reach the cargo. The spare stays secure and the rear opens in one motion.
