Re-gearing a JK starts with the rear axle, and the right ratio puts the engine's torque to better use on the trail and while towing. This Revolution Gear & Axle set is made for the rear Dana 44 differential in 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13 and 5.38 ratios, with a 24-spline pinion and an 8.5in ring gear cut from 8620 steel. Choose your ratio, set the gears, add the ring gear bolts, which are not included, and the JK has the rear gearing you picked. The right ratio delivers more torque at lower speeds, which gives better traction and control on climbs and makes towing easier.
