A rock that catches the fuel tank ends the trip, and a skid plate has to cover it without a long teardown.
This steel gas tank skid plate is made from 3/16in thick plate and weighs 39 lb. Tapered washers protect the bolt heads, and the tank does not need to be dropped to install it. Most of the hardware is bolt-on, with two drilled holes required, and it can be run on its own or interlocked with other Rock Hard 4x4 skid plates.
Raise the vehicle, line the plate up under the tank, drill the two holes and bolt it in. The tank is covered from the rocks underneath.
