A JK 2-Door has limited room inside, so the roof has to carry the bulky gear: the tent, the spare fuel, the recovery boards. The factory hard top was not built to be a load floor, and clamping a rack to it can leave you uneasy at every bump.
The Rhino-Rack Backbone solves that from the inside. It is an internal frame set up inside the JK, with two plates on each side of the hard top tied into the frame. That carries the roof line out to mounting points rated for loads up to 100 kg (220 lb), ready for a 2-bar roof rack system.
Fit the internal frames, bolt on the mounting plates with the supplied hardware, then add the legs and crossbars of your choice. The roof becomes usable storage without second-guessing the hard top.
