Step sliders are built to take a hit, but a Gladiator on aggressive rock trails hits them from the side and from underneath. A slider with no further protection can bend, and a bent step is a bad day on a long trail.
The Rock Slide Engineering skid plates are 3/16 in steel and fit over the 3rd Gen step sliders like a phone case. They screw into the existing slider using the same brackets, and a cutout for the step lets it keep working.
Fit the plates to the sliders with the existing brackets. In about 30 minutes the sliders have extra protection on the sides and underneath.
