A spliced rope eye on a winch line needs a thimble that protects it from UV, impact and abrasion without sticking out into the approach angle. A hook adds length and risk.

The Factor55 Flat Splicer is a folding, splice-on shackle mount for synthetic winch rope up to 1/2in. A machined rope path protects the rope, EPDM rubber pads protect the fairlead, and it folds flat at 1.75in thick. It accepts the pin and bow of 3/4in shackles and the pin ends of 7/8in shackles.

Splice the rope in, then stow it flat against the fairlead.
